Getting Started with Moveology
Getting to the Studio and Parking
We are located at 1202 20 Ave SE in the Ramsay Design Centre. We have 6 marked parking spots on the south side of the building and there are visitor parking stalls in the main lot outside the studio’s front doors. Be careful not to park in stalls labeled RESERVED in that lot Monday - Friday, from 8am - 5pm. There is street parking around the building, and a impark paid parking lot if you continue east on 20th ave and make your first right after the train tracks. You can download the hangtag app to pay the $2/hr parking.
What to Bring and Wear
Feel free to dress in whatever attire makes you feel comfortable and allows for unrestricted movement. Grip socks or clean (indoor use only) runners are suitable footwear options. If you don’t have grip socks, don’t fret! We offer a variety of grip socks for sale at the studio. Remember to bring water and stay hydrated during your workout. Additionally, depending on the class, you might want to bring a small sweat towel. Not to worry if you forget, as we have water available for purchase and complimentary sweat towels for your convenience.
Getting Acquainted with Our Space
We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early for your first class to ensure that you feel fully prepared and confident to move with us. We will provide you with a tour of the studio and help you set up for class. If you’re unable to arrive early, don’t worry! Your instructor will have put out the props that will be used in class in the instructor’s spot, located front and centre, ensuring optimal visibility for everyone attending. You can simply grab your props from our equipment wall at the back of the studio and set them under a free spot at the barre. For mat-based classes, grab a mat and any other props set out and find a suitable space to lay it down.
What Class to Take
What class you should take truly depends on what kind of workout you are looking for. We offer classes that are high impact, low impact and everywhere in between. In a perfect world, the class style of your choice would be offered on the day/time you are looking for, but we all know this world is far from perfect – ha! So, even if you are a beginner and/or don’t want to jump and the only class you can make that day is higher impact, let your instructor know and they will be happy to offer multiple movement options throughout the class. Low impact options will be offered for all high impact movements in every class. If you are recovering from an injury, have a movement limitation or just don’t like doing a certain move, let your instructor know before class so it will be fresh in their minds when calling out the movements. Something didn’t feel right during class? Chat with your instructor after class and you can workshop some different options for your next workout. With that being said, the best classes for beginners are Barre + Stretch, Barrelates, Yoga and Pilates. Middle of the road classes are Barre and Barre Sculpt. Our “hardest” classes are HIIT, Strength + Sweat and Power.
